It all begins with the transformer. Gallien-Krueger uses toroids. They cost more, but are lightweight, do not induce hum into pickups, and really pack a punch! They generate the tremendous currents required to maintain cone control at high power levels (reduced farting), by using extra output devices and sophisticated SOA protection circuits. This also costs more, but will deliver up to 10 times the current of other comparable amplifiers.
